The Adult Program at United Ability offers a variety of services to provide life enrichment activities for individuals with disabilities. These activities encourage community participation and increase skill levels in activities of daily living. Participants are afforded the opportunity to develop leisure and recreation interests.
Training classes are held to provide instruction in social skills and soft skills. Research tells us that these are the skills that often equip a person to acquire and keep a job. The skills learned in these classes are practiced in real work settings through volunteer and paying jobs in the community. Trainees are also assisted in obtaining Non-Driver IDs and Food Handler’s Cards, if desired.

Employment Small Work Groups
Employment Small Work Groups are services and training activities provided in regular business, industry and community settings for groups of 2-8 workers. Trainees are integrated into the workplace where they can learn valuable work skills. The outcome of this service is sustained paid employment and work experience leading to further career development and community-based individual employment. While in vocational training, participants have the opportunity to volunteer in many nonprofit settings. The skills developed in the vocational area are the soft skills needed to prepare individuals for future employment.
United Ability’s Adult Program is a person-centered program that supports individuals while they achieve their personal goals. Individuals are afforded daily opportunities to develop appropriate social skills while participating in small group activities. Our Adult Program’s goal is for each participant to have a full and meaningful day.
