Be one of the 250 people to spark something special on the roads of Alabama.

We are excited to introduce our United Ability specialty license plate! At United Ability, it is our mission to connect individuals with disabilities to the community around them, while empowering them to lead full and meaningful lives. Pre-order your United Ability charity license plate for your vehicle to support hundreds of children and adults who participate in our organization every single day. All proceeds will go directly to support the United Ability organization and participants.

How it Works:

  1. Help us reach the 250 mark by reserving your tag here.
  2. Once the United Ability License Plate reaches the required number of pre-commitments, the tag will go into production.
  3.  United Ability will receive $41.25 from each License Plate sold!

Once United Ability has reached 250 commitments, the Alabama Department of Revenue will begin production and email you a voucher.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does the United Ability Tag cost?

$50 plus your usual license plate fees and taxes, and $41.25 is tax deductible each year.

What information is needed to preorder?

You will need either your current Alabama license plate number or the year, make, model and VIN of your vehicle and a credit/debit card.

What if I already have a personalized License Plate?

If you already have a personalized license plate, there will ultimately be no additional cost to make it an United Ability license plate. You will still need to pre-order and pay your $50 now, but will not pay the $50 when you renew the first year.

Do I need to wait until my license plate expires before I pre-commit?

No, you do not need to wait until your plate expires. The pre-commitment process shows the Alabama Department of Revenue that there are enough supporters for the United Ability license plate to be manufactured. It is separate from the license plate renewal process. We will need at least 250 pre-commitments by May 31, 2019.

What if I just renewed my license plate?

No worries! We just need your help NOW and can upgrade to the United Ability tag at your earliest convenience.

Is the fee refundable?

The $50 cost is refundable if we do NOT reach 250 pre-commitments. The Alabama Department of Revenue does charge a $2 fee that is not refundable.

I’ve committed, when can I get my license plate?

When we reach 250 pre-commitments, the license plate will move into production. Production will take about 2-3 months to produce the plates. Everyone who preordered a license plate will be notified via email of when the plates will be ready for issuance and will receive a voucher for their United Ability license plate. You will then take the voucher to your car tag office and exchange it for your new United Ability plate.
