Administrative Assistant- Employment Services

Monday-Friday; 13 hours per week- flexibility in hours

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Update and maintain the extended services database.
  • Make monthly extended service calls to employers and clients.
  • Input new referral data into Therap and place all new clients on appropriate tracking.
  • Maintain employment service data throughout the year.
  • Maintain and update the transition services database.
  • Update and maintain United Way forms.
  • Discharge clients as needed.
  • Update and maintain phone and e-mail lists for clients and employers.
  • Assist with other administrative duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • High school education or GED required.
  • Minimum of one year administrative support experience.
  • Proficient computer and organizational skills are required.

Medical Receptionist and Billing Coordinator 

Monday – Friday; 8:00-4:30; Benefits Eligible

United Ability is currently seeking candidates for the role of Medical Receptionist and Billing Coordinator to work in the Ability Clinic.  The ideal candidate will be detailed oriented, have the ability to handle multiple tasks including answering multi-line phone system, scheduling appointments for physician and  multiple therapist, taking insurance co-pays, greeting and checking in patients, assist with third party billing issues, verification of insurance, obtaining ICD-10 codes, insurance referrals and prescriptions. Role will also assist with therapy medical insurance billing for patient services, maintain Medicaid Referral and Prescription Renewal Database, manage student interns/volunteers and other duties as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3+ years’ experience working in a medical/physician front office required.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills required.
  • Experience with electronic medical records required.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and time management skills required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with patients, families, and medical staff with an emphasis customer service.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Physical Therapist- Adult Day Program

Monday – Thursday; 22 hours per week. 

 Purpose

Physical Therapist is responsible for conducting initial and follow-up assessments/evaluations for adult consumers/participants.  Additionally, PT will prepare required reports/findings, participate in conferences as needed and coordinate/lead/conduct group and individual treatment sessions and consult with parents and caregivers as needed.  Other duties, as assigned.

Education / Experience

  • Minimum of two years experience in PT is preferred; however, new graduates will be considered.
  • Graduated from an accredited program in Physical Therapy.
  • Registered and licensed (Alabama Physical Therapist), or eligible for registration and license and will perform all duties under the supervision of a registered and licensed PT until license is obtained.

Marketing and Development Intern for spring semester

Schedule:  Flexible with school schedule

This is an unpaid internship working with United Ability’s Development Department.  Seeking students at junior/senior class level. Students pursuing Marketing or Communications degree preferred.

The Marketing & Development Intern supports the Development Team (Chief Development Officer, Director of Communications, Donor Relations Manager, and Administrative Assistant) in a day-to-day administrative capacity as well as organizational and logistical support during special events. The Development Intern also gains experience and an insider’s view of marketing, PR and fundraising in the non-profit world with an agency serving our community for almost 70 years.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist the development staff with event details such as team captain and volunteer lists, fulfilling order deliveries, formatting donor lists, on-site set up, etc.
  • Support Marketing Director with video/photo planning, newsletter and e-blast content, press coordination, etc.
  • Maintain grant files and other development materials.
  • Assist in creative content creation for mailings, social media and email communications.
  • Enter new data and updates in the donor database.
  • Attend department and staff meetings
  • Assist with mailings and special projects as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Strong writing skills.
  • Social Media knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Graphic design skills a plus.
  • Solid interpersonal skills and attention to detail.

Maintenance Technician

Monday-Friday; 8:00 AM- 4:30 PM; Benefits Eligible

Position Overview:

This position is responsible for assisting the Facility Manager with the overall upkeep and maintenance of the United Ability campus. The applicant will be required to exhibit electrical and mechanical skills to troubleshoot and repair ac units, machinery and other campus systems. He/she will be required to communicate his /her jobs status and report conversations with vendors and staff members regarding work related issues to the supervisor. In addition, this person will be expected to support United Ability programs and activities. Also, some overtime work will be requested.

 Qualifications for Position

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must be a self-starter and have the ability to complete routine maintenance tasks without direct supervision.
  • Must have a valid Alabama driver’s license, automobile insurance as well as reliable transportation.
  • Working knowledge of power tools
  • Must have the physical ability for heavy lifting, (max. 75 lbs.).
  • Knowledge of building code requirements and safety standards.
  • Must have a broad knowledge of AC repair.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed
  • Must be able to pass criminal background screening as required by Department of Human Resources (DHR) guidelines

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perform preventive maintenance
  2. Perform Inspections, help maintain work order system and purchase logs
  3. Paint, patch and repair walls
  4. Install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain campus equipment
  5. Make daily rounds and report issues to Facility manager
  6. Order replacement parts using PO system
  7. Help maintain the housekeeping division of facility as needed
  8. Perform other duties not listed as directed by Facility Manager

Substitute Receptionist
