Driver/Shred Tech

Monday-Friday; 7:00 am- 3:30 pm; Benefits Eligible

Position will drive company truck (20-24 box van type truck) to customer location; load and unload trucks; provide excellent customer service to customer; work with disabled individual and provide job coaching to individual; sort and shred paper; maintain the security of all documents to comply with NAID certification standards; perform shredding operations according to set procedures and with attention to safety; perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing, production or workshop setting.
  • Must have valid driver’s licenses.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Certified forklift operator preferred.
  • Experience driving a 20-24 box van type truck.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to get along with a variety of people, including disabled individuals.

TEACHING ASSISTANT – 2 year old classroom

Monday-Friday, 8:00-5:00; Benefits Eligible                                 

Teaching Assistants are responsible for assisting in the overall classroom learning plan development and implementation, overall classroom management, and in the absence of the teacher, the supervision of classroom personnel and parental communication.

Education &/or Experience

Physical Therapist- Adult Day Program

Monday – Friday; 20 hours per week

 Purpose

Physical Therapist is responsible for conducting initial and follow-up assessments/evaluations for adult consumers/participants.  Additionally, PT will prepare required reports/findings, participate in conferences as needed and coordinate/lead/conduct group and individual treatment sessions and consult with parents and caregivers as needed.  Other duties, as assigned.

Education / Experience

  • Minimum of two years experience in PT is preferred; however, new graduates will be considered.
  • Graduated from an accredited program in Physical Therapy.
  • Registered and licensed (Alabama Physical Therapist), or eligible for registration and license and will perform all duties under the supervision of a registered and licensed PT until license is obtained.

Marketing and Development Intern

Flexible with school schedule- 20-30 hours per week, beginning the week of May 22nd

This is an unpaid internship working with United Ability’s Development Department.  Seeking students at junior/senior class level. Students pursuing Marketing or Communications degree preferred.

The Marketing & Development Intern supports the Development Team (Chief Development Officer, Marketing Director, Donor Relations Manager and Administrative Assistant) in a day-to-day administrative capacity as well as organizational and logistical support during special events. The Development Intern also gains experience and an insider’s view of marketing, PR and fundraising in the non-profit world with an agency serving our community for almost 70 years.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist the development staff with event details such as team captain and volunteer lists, fulfilling order deliveries, formatting donor lists, on-site set up, etc.
  • Support Marketing Director with video/photo planning, newsletter and e-blast content, press coordination, etc.
  • Maintain grant files and other development materials.
  • Assist in creative content creation for mailings, social media and email communications.
  • Enter new data and updates in the donor database.
  • Attend department and staff meetings
  • Assist with mailings and special projects as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Strong writing skills.
  • Social Media knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Graphic design skills a plus.
  • Solid interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
