Ask the Expert

United Ability is unique in the state of Alabama, due to the life-spectrum services available to CHILDREN AND ADULTS living with a wide range of disabilities.

Our Ability Clinic, under the leadership of Dr. Charlie Law, offers comprehensive medical and therapy services; establishes and provides seamless case management throughout the individual’s lifetime; facilitates ease of access to quality services; and most importantly, improves the overall health and quality of life for persons with disabilities.  Dr. Law practices Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and is dually certified in Adult and Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine. As United Ability’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Law leads a team of experts in their fields.

Meet Deanna Lenzie. Deanna joined the United Ability Clinic team as a Nurse Clinician nearly three years ago. What an extraordinary opportunity it was for Deanna. “I immediately was drawn to the family-focused approach to patient care,” Deanna said, and it did not take long for her to begin to develop relationships with clients and their families.  She knew that she wanted to learn everything she could about rehabilitation nursing to provide the best care possible.

In December, after tireless dedication and hard work, Deanna earned the additional accolade of Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse through the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses. She is one of only three in Alabama!

What does this distinct certification mean to United Ability patients and their families? Deanna’s specialized training leading up to her accreditation helped her gain a deeper understanding of what our clients will need during their rehabilitation journey.  Our patients and their families can be confident in knowing their nurse has the most current information regarding their physical needs, treatments, and standards of care for people with disabilities.   As Deanna shared, “’This process helped me become a better advocate, teacher, and case manager. I am honored to be a member of the United Ability Clinic team and committed caregiver to our patients and their families.”

Deanna, along with Dr. Law and our team of top-notch Physical, Occupational, Speech-Language, and Early Intervention Therapists, forms a team of experts staunchly dedicated to meeting the needs of every child and adult served by United Ability.
