At United Ability, we believe everyone should have access to the tools that make daily life easier, safer, and more independent. ShareAbility connects people who have assistive devices they no longer need with individuals and families who can use them right now — at no cost.

Before donating or picking up needed items:

  • Appointments are required. Please wait for a representative from ShareAbility to contact you to schedule this appointment.
  • Items must be clean and in working order.
  • Please include all parts and hardware.

What items does shareability accept?

  • Reachers, grabbers
  • Dressing aids (button hooks, zipper pulls, sock aids)
  • Adaptive utensils and dishware
  • Small adaptive kitchen tools
  • Writing aids or built-up pens
  • Medication organizers
  • Reusable water bottles

🚿Bathroom Equipment

  • Bath or shower seats (compact, foldable, rust-free)
  • Raised toilet seats

🦯Mobility & Transfer Aids

  • Folding walkers and rollators
  • Canes (standard or quad)
  • Transfer or sliding boards
  • Gait belts

🏠Home & Positioning Aids

  • Non-slip mats

💬Communication & Technology Tools

  • AAC devices in working condition
  • Adaptive styluses or tablet aids
  • Magnifiers and low-vision tools

Items We Do Not Accept

✖We Cannot Accept

  • Wheelchairs, scooters, lift chairs, Hoyer lifts, hospital beds
  • Large or motorized equipment
  • Used cushions, mattresses, or items that cannot be sanitized
  • Medical supplies (catheters, tubing, wound care, incontinence products)
  • Orthotics, braces, or custom-made items
  • TENS or electrical stimulation units

ShareAbility is provided in partnership with APTAT – Accessing Potential Through Assistive Technology and the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services AT Act Program.
